Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
For clients living with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, Senior Helpers staff work with families and the client to create a customised plan of support that may include cueing programs to stimulate memory, monitoring, supervising and administering medication, supporting daily activities, fostering effective communication and creating a positive, warm environment. Senior Helpers’ Senior Gems® program is unique and effective in supporting clients, their family and friends and is a point of difference for our owners.
Senior Helpers’ Parkinson’s Care Program is a specialised training program created in conjunction with leading experts from the US National Parkinson Foundation’s Centre of Excellence. This program is designed to provide support staff with expert training and guidance on how to handle the range of mobility, movement and non-motor symptoms of this disease.
Senior Helpers offers a range of services for clients facing surgery. From assistance with pre-admission appointments, support during day surgery and returning home after recovery, we also provide transition support. For these services, Senior Helpers staff offer support until the client is recovered sufficiently to undertake their normal daily activities safely and unaided.
With live-in care, our support workers are able to provide 24-hour care as long as they can sleep for eight hours per shift and receive appropriate breaks. Live-in care can be provided for one day or seven days per week, indefinitely.
Our support staff monitor and/or support clients when they are in hospital, in residential care or other facilities to be there when the family cannot be there. They ensure that the client’s needs are met.
These are a suite of specialty programs that can offer clients one-off support for special events, additional services for clients living in residential care, assisted living centres or retirement communities. Services can include move-in services, wait list support and many more.
This program is a semi-monthly visit that includes companion services that meet the needs of the person living at home. The family will receive a monthly report and peace of mind knowing someone is there for their relative.
